pH Miracle

Today is my Day 2 of the World Wide Cleanse for Health. On Day 1, after my morning green shake, I consumed water till noon. I was pretty occupied yesterday that I had my lunch at 3.00 p.m. I took half a glass of green shake. Then I had a home massage for an hour by an ex-nurse who is 69 years old. Pretty strong lady. By 5.20 p.m. I started to feel like having something to eat. I made a raw vegetable soup using cherry tomatoes, garlic, broccoli, asparagus, lettuce and olive oil. All these goes in the blender and I get a raw veggie soup! I spiced it up with a dash of lemon and pepper. It's yummy. Saves time on cooking, too! My challenge came during dinner. I cooked dinner for my family and ended up taking rice plus the dishes i.e. stir fry broccoli & carrots, anchovies with chillies and mixed veggie in coconut milk. I ate very much less than usual though.

The best part about this is I had a comment from one colleague and she called me to ask what food is acidic and which one is not. I told her I will pass her a copy of the pH Miracle to read. Another friend sent me an email wanting to join the cleanse. Hey, this is great!

Anyway, I learned 2 things I need to work on. One, I did not drink enough water. Two, I did not exercise enough .i.e. only 20 minutes of walking.

How much water (alkaline) should we drink? 1 liter for every 30 pounds of weight. It's your weight in pounds divided by 30. That's how many liters you should drink a day. How many cups is that? Multiply by 4.25. For example, if your weight is 120 pounds, you should drink 17 cups of water.

Our body is 70% water. Water makes up 75% by volume of our muscles and heart, 83% of our brain & kidneys, 86% of our lungs, and 95% of our eyes. Even 22% of our bones actually water. Our blood is 90% water. We are what we drink. If we don't drink enough water, we will compromise our body and our health.

What are the alkaline foods we can eat: Avocado, broccoli, lettuce, cucumber, spinach, kale, asparagus, tomatoes, lemons, soy nuts, almond, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, coconut oil, coconut water, flaxseed oil, cod liver oil, tofu, green beans, bell peppers, garlic, celery, okra, cabbage, lime, lemon, grapefruit, and most greens. The greener the better as it is richer in electrons.

A friend asked me about oats and raisins. Oats is moderately acidic and raisins as a dried fruit is acidic too. The idea is to try and hit 80% alkali. We can have 20% acidic food in a meal and 80% raw alkali food.

All these information is available in the book pH Miracle by Dr. Robert Young who studies live blood cells. He is a microbiologist and studies human bodies at the cellular level. He has shown results of patients who has diseases, put them on alkalizing diets and the red blood cells become healthy cells. Interesting findings and amazing discovery!

This morning I am back on track, and made a slightly different shake recipe:

Blend cucumber, lemon, spinach, soaked almonds, ice and soy powder. With lemon, the taste is different and it's really delicious. Try it out!

World Wide Cleanse For Health

Recently I joined the World Wide Cleanse For Health. It starts today, October 29, 2008. This is a 14-day cleansing which will end on November 11, 2008. Fiona Johnston took the initiative to start this world wide and I think she is an amazing lady.

Just a little bit of confession. I came across Dr. Robert Young's work a few years back. I roped in a few people to alkalize. I got into the cucumber juice craze for awhile and then it dies off.

Even though I have read the books, each time when I got started, I seemed to fall off the wagon. Getting back up again a few times and somehow got into the yo-yo of alkalizing. The premise is that a lot of stuff we are eating are acidic and when it gets into our body, makes our blood acidic and damages our organs and it became the source of all diseases. Sugar is acid. The meats, high protein dairy products, seafood or "anything with a face" (as Anthony Robbins calls it) are pure acidic foods. Acid becomes glue in our blood that sticks our red blood cells and makes our blood moves very slowly in our bodies and we become sick & tired and fat!

The challenge in alkalizing is watching others eat the normal delicious stuff of high protein meats, dairy products and nice desserts. Try sitting down with people eating nasi lemak, rendang, ikan bakar, and the rest of the delicacies over here in Malaysia! It takes a whole lot of will power to avoid those stuff.

Prior this cleanse, a few days back, I studied Fiona's materials, read again Dr. Young's book, watch some youtube video clips and tested the recipes. For instance, I tried juicing spinach and cucumber. Wow...it tastes awesome! I started to stock green peppers, kale, spinach, cucumbers, almonds, lettuce, Romaine lettuce, lemons, young coconuts and broccoli. All these are alkalizing foods.

This morning I did a green shake by mixing young coconut water, young coconut meat, soaked almonds, broccoli, kale, ice and soy powder. I put all the ingredients in the blender and it tastes so yummy and I felt so full. I begin to realize that this is achievable. Reading "Goals" posted by the rest of the members on Facebook was really motivating. Deep inside I continue to thank Fiona and Dr. Young on this initiative. Thank you Fiona. Thank you Dr. Young.

My motivation this time? It's to join the rest of them and enrich my experience. When I really made it, I can become a support to many close friends who are diabetic, who has cancer and the rest who may just want to enjoy better health.

Being someone in the insurance business, I met many clients whose application has been declined due to diabetes and cancer.

I will want to be that someone who will make a difference in their lives.
